Intercultural Development Inventory Guide
The Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) is an assessment for understanding an individual’s approach to dealing with cultural difference. Advantages of using the IDI include quantitative data for informing training strategy, ability to track progress over time, and being a trusted tool. Some disadvantages include too many undertrained IDI qualified administrators, the tool’s inability to accurately produce a single group score, and the possibility of inaccurate individual scores. The IDI is a good tool overall but without experts fluent in the DMIS to contextualize it, the IDI may remain underpowered and at worst, inaccurate.
